Tasty Tuesday: Fig and Sausage Pizza

Sausage and fig pizza

1-12 oz. package of chorizo sliced

1 cup fig butter

1 onion sliced and caramelized

pizza dough (home made or store bought)

fresh mozzarella cheese

arugula (optional)

olive oil

If making your own pizza dough prepare the dough. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Brown the sliced sausage in a pan and caramelize the onion. Spread out prepared or store bought pizza dough. Cover the dough all the way to the edge with the fig butter. Top the fig butter with the browned sausage and caramelized onion slices. Cover with thin slices of mozzarella and bake for about 20 min. or until the cheese is melted. Serve with arugula and drizzled olive oil.

This pizza was amazing. It was so quick but tasted like it took hours. A few short cuts were buying my own dough even though we typically make our own and buying jarred fig butter. I used Trader Joe’s wheat pizza crust and Trader Joe’s fig butter. The arugula and olive oil are of course optional but add such a peppery and crunch bite!
